Small Project, Big Impact...

The Health for Healthcare Workers Project was carried out in partnership between PFP Africa Trust and the Homa Bay County Department of Health, implemented between February 2024 and January 2025.

The project took place in the Ndhiwa and Rachuonyo South sub-counties of Homa Bay County, Kenya. It aimed to strengthen the capacity of local Community Health Promoters and Healthcare Workers in the areas of gender-based violence, mental health, and menstrual hygiene management.

As a result of this project, 60 healthcare workers and 381 community health promoters were trained in mental health, GBV, and menstrual & sexual reproductive health (MSRH) — exceeding the target of 30 and 127, respectively.

And the evaluation report also identified an excellent cost-benefit ratio: For every £1 invested in the programme, PFP delivered a return of £4.55.
