From small beginnings… to big results

Derick, John, Peter and Wycliffe, or the ‘Simpson Brothers’ as they call themselves, are based in Mbita, Kenya. The young friends all worked hard to make a living, but without secure livelihoods faced financial insecurity and uncertainty about the future.

What they had was bags of motivation, enthusiasm and potential -but they lacked the business capital and skills to make their enterprise dream a reality.

That’s where the PFP Arise Centre came in. There the Simpson brothers received business incubation support, access to resources and encouragement.

With the support of the wider Arise community, and using their own savings, the team launched a community eatery – a growing business offering food, employment and inspiration to other young people. They have also applied to access a revolving loan fund, which will help them expand the business and boost income generation.

"We started with just an idea and support from Arise turned it into reality. Now we feed our people and our dreams."

The Simpson Brothers’ journey is a powerful example of a scalable youth-led enterprise, which will inspire and enable similar ventures in Mbita and beyond.
