Bamboo Propagation Update at the Arise Centre

Last month, we shared a blog post about bamboo propagation at the Arise Centre, where trainees took part in a practical session as part of the Environmental Conservation and Climate Resilience module. We are now excited to share an update on what has happened since then.
Of the 60 bamboo seedlings propagated, 47 have survived, resulting in a 78% success rate. For an early-stage activity, this is a strong result and reflects the trainees’ growing confidence and hands-on learning in sustainable propagation techniques.

Each seedling is valued at KES 300, giving the current batch at the Arise Centre a potential value of KES 14,100. Even more encouraging, the group has already received its first order, an exciting early sign that the bamboo nursery is beginning to generate real interest and demand.
What started as a training activity is steadily developing into something more practical, where environmental learning is being directly connected to opportunities for income generation. As the nursery continues to grow, we will keep sharing updates on progress and impact.
