Innovation. Empowerment. Sustainability.

Agago District, Uganda has experienced many years of hardship following political insurgency in the region. Local women like Adong Christine, a 46 year old mother of six children, have had to cover many miles every day in search of wood to fuel fires that heat households and enable them to prepare food for the family.

Thanks to generous funding from donors like you, our ACCI programme in Uganda was able to provide Adong Christine with a new energy saving cook stove, and train her on how to use it. This training is now being rolled out to other local villages by Community-based Facilitators (also trained by ACCI).

"I was using a three stone cook stove... within a week it consumed two big bundles of fire wood, but I now use one bundle for one and a half months" - Adong Christine
"I now cook with dignity, using less fuel wood, breathing clean air, (inhaling) less smoke, saving time, money and protecting the environment" - Adong Christine
